Carol Ann O'Dea has more than twenty years of in-house experience addressing all aspects of reinsurance claims as a senior executive with several leading reinsurers. In 2015, Intelligent Insurer named her as one of the "100 Influential Women in Re/Insurance." In 2016, Carol Ann returned to the private practice of law with a practice focused on property and casualty reinsurance claims counseling for both ceding companies and reinsurers, reinsurance claims department management consulting, complex claim review, auditing, legal and operations analysis, as well as expert witness and dispute resolution services.

Carol Ann has worked directly on many high profile national and international claims in the reinsurance industry arising from the earthquakes in New Zealand, the flooding in Australia, and such U.S. catastrophes as the Subprime Mortgage Crisis, the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, Enron, September 11, and Ponzi schemes involving Bernie Madoff and others. Many of these claims involved numerous reinsurance contracts, necessitating the coordination of a team of experts and claims analysts for loss analysis, contract interpretation, and diligent audits of losses for proper application to reinsurance.

Carol Ann's unique combination of legal expertise in policy/contract language drafting, litigation analysis, and claims management makes her an ideal advisor or advocate in connection with virtually any reinsurance claim or claim department challenge. Carol Ann also will serve on a selective basis as an expert witness in re/insurance arbitrations and mediations in the areas of reinsurance claims, errors and omissions claims, liability claims, medical malpractice claims, professional liability claims, toxic tort claims, workers compensation claims, audit / records inspection, coverage / contract interpretation, and reinsurance contract wording. Carol Ann also is available to serve as a neutral in ADR proceedings involving re/insurance.
